Some way, some how is done through designing typography through coffee grounds. I am a barista and I am also a creative. I designed this through sitting in my coffee shop for two hours. I took a bunch of beans and I ground them and placed them onto my sketchbook page. I did not use anything to stick the coffee grounds to the page. I placed most of these grounds into the right shape with a brush and my fingers.
SO / ON - RED
SO / ON - RED is one of my second designs for my t-shirt line called "so.on.point". With this design, I wanted to take more of an aggressive approach to type design and also I wanted to make type into a texture and a pattern.
Heaven is Here
SO / ON
SO / ON is one of the first forms of visual branding that I wanted to use for my line of t-shirt design line called "so.on.point". I wanted to take a more subtle approach to saying a phrase by visually representing it through objects such as an arrow.
TYPE AS FORM
TYPE AS FORM is a pattern collection I made that uses typographic elements to form all over repeat patterns on different products.
Flow is another typography design I have created. I was inspired by Gemma O'Brien's typographic element of the textures she created that sliced through and behind letters. I took that texture idea and implemented it into designing Flow.
Orange Floral is a pattern I did inspired by Lewis Foreman Day's way of designing patterns. I really enjoyed how sophisticated his patterns were, so I made a floral pattern and placed it on to pillows, couches, and a lamp shade.
Crooked is a design I created because I was inspired by the way ink moved on a page. I designed the letters first and then I colored black all around them with ink and let the ink drip to the right diagonal side.
Do what you want
Do what you want is a design based off of one of the lines in Childish Gambino's song, "Me And Your Mama." The song basically is about unrequited love. I wanted to capture the line "Do what you want" in a heart silhouette.
u is an illustration that I made based of of Kendrick Lamar's song, "u". Kendrick Lamar is a rapper that admits to being surrounded by many people close to him that fell to the addiction of different drugs and alcohol. He is a rapper that has decided for himself that sobriety is the way to go.
In his song, "u", it depicts the unfortunate side of being intoxicated.
Movement is a piece on the mother of modern dance, Martha Graham. Modern dance was a way to break out of the rigid nature of ballet. She created this form because she wanted to show the audience how she really felt. I have a long history in dance and so I studied the technique that she set as a standard for modern dance. I wanted to pay homage to her and create type for the illustration. I thought one of her most iconic works was when she did Lamentation and danced in a fabric that closely tied around her to show her embodiment of grief.
